PROCEDURES:

Commissioning a Portrait Painting is a significant undertaking.

A Portrait Painting will last for generations, years after the family photos have long since faded. Regardless of the degree of complexity of the painting you commission, Carver always desires to create an heirloom quality Portrait Painting masterpiece of the highest standards.

Since a Portrait Painting is a collaboration between patron and artist, the first step is to establish a dialogue and determine the scope of the painting you desire. Carver will do his very best to accommodate both your vision and your budget. When you commission Carver to paint your Portrait, you are dealing directly with the artist. There are no intermediaries and this ensures that your communication is direct and there will be no misinterpretation or misrepresentation. If anything, your expectations will be exceeded. Please contact Carver directly to discuss the portrait you envision.

For the Sitting, Carver will be taking Photographs at a location of your choosing. This is to ensure proper posing, lighting and composition. The amount of time for the photographic sitting is usually one hour.

Travel expenses, framing costs, shipping fees and any state or city sales tax, where applicable, are additional.

A one third non-refundable retainer is required when you sign the Portrait Agreement. A second retainer of one third is due when you approve the color study. When the completed Portrait Painting is delivered and it meets with your approval, the balance is due.

Please allow 4 - 8 months; depending on complexity, for completion of your Portrait Painting.
